Our life in pictures.....
Sorry that we haven't always done a great job posting pictures of daily life. I don't tend to take many pictures of normal things, but thanks to some of your promptings, here they are!
| Miriam in her swing being pushed by two Congolese boys and Luke, her diapers drying in the background! |
| We have to be creative to find fun things to do.... Here Patrick is teaching Luke some new songs from a songbook. |
| Miriam finds endless fun by opening cabinets and pulling out their contents. We keep 'trash' that might one day be useful in this cabinet, its perfect for her! |
| A few days ago I looked out our front door to see these two women taking turns whacking our stump with an ax so they could gather firewood to cook their dinner with. Daily life! |
| Samaritan's Purse helped refurbish the maternity service at our hospital. Many came for the celebration and inauguration of the new unit. |
| Every Thursday morning all the doctors meet together for a devotional and an educational session. |
| Our gardener, Julien, also teaches part time at an elementary school. The school recently told him they would help redo one of the houses that was destroyed in the war for them to live in. Currently he and his family of 8 are living in one room. We helped pay for his roof that we recently placed- how joyful they are! |
| Baths are a fun time in our house. Yes our kids were dirty, but the water here is constantly muddy in rainy season so baths don't seem quite as cleansing :). |
| Miriam crawls everywhere during church. Here se found a group of girls on these benches and stopped to 'chat' with them. |

This is our local daily market here in town. Its about a 20 minute walk from our house. Most people come here to buy their ingredients for dinner daily. We are always the only white people, so we unfortunately draw quite a crowd. I (Anna) am bending down with Luke next to me, buying some corn flower and soy flour. I also found a couple of pineapples, cabbage, and duck eggs, a successful trip! There is very limited variety here in fruits and veggies, finding green beans is a treat. Currently the only fruit in season is passion fruit and papaya. We have learned many new ways to use cabbage as this is one of the only vegetables we can find often!
Thanks for joining us on this walk through daily life with pictures. Please keep in touch, let us know about your daily lives too! |
Thank you for these glimpses of your daily life. We love you and are proud of you!
